Mackenzie Blackwood named to NHL's Central Scouting Futures List.

Today, NHL.com listed 18 players from the OHL who have been identified by NHL Central Scouting on their North American Futures List for the 2015 NHL Draft. Barrie Colts goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood was on the list.

"The list is based on the body of work that we saw from the players during 2013-14," NHL Central Scouting Director Dan Marr said. "Every year the scouts think that it's a good crop of prospects, there's just been a little more emphasis in 2015 because there's been a couple more top-end frontrunners."

In this 2014 NHL draft, 41 players selected were from the OHL and 10 of them were selected in the first round.

Aaron Ekblad being selected first overall by the Florida Panthers made him the 6th player in the last 8 NHL drafts that was selected from an OHL team.
The NHL's Central Scouting will release the list of Preliminary Playwes to watch for the 2015 NHL Draft in September.
