Tonight, the Colts host the North Bay Battalion (5-2-3-0
) for their third game of the season. The Colts won the first meeting in late September 5-4 and North Bay won the second meeting 4-1. In both meetings it was the home team that ended up getting the win. Did we mention that tonights game is at BMC here in Barrie?
North Bay currently sits in second place in the Central Division, trailing the Colts by 2 points. A win tonight will put them in first. It also needs to be mentioned that the Colts have also played 2 more games than the Battalion have this season. If they want to maintain the lead then tonight is a must win.
Both North Bay and Barrie are coming off of wins last night. The Colts with a 5-4 win in Kingston (
Recap here) while North Bay had a huge win over Niagara with a 6-2 win.
Keys to success: Momentum. Keep up what they did last night. Not only did the Colts manage to get a lot of shots on goal but they showed discipline. Outside the end of the second period. That being said, leaving the game with only having to kill 2 penalties isn't a luxury that the Colts have had often this season. Unfortanatly, Nick Paul and the Battalion are not always an easy team for the Colts to keep a level head when playing against. In the 2 games this season the Colts have had to kill off 14 penalties and allowed 3 goals on those chances. They will need to play a disciplined game if they want to win tonight.
Players to watch: Laser, Mangiapane and Blandisi are all coming off huge games. They will want to keep that up tonight. Also, keep an eye on Nick Paul of North Bay. He is off to a great start to the season with 13 points in 10 games.
Tonight is also Alumni night. Today the Colts will be featuring Hunter Tremblay.
Hunter played 5 seasons in the OHL, all as a member of the Barrie Colts. In that time he played in 317 regular season games (45 playoff games). He scored 115 goals and got 274 points.
After some time playing for the University of New Brunswick, Hunter signed a one year contract with the Edmonton Oilers in 2011 and made his pro debut with Oklahoma City in the AHL.
Tremblay was loved here in Barrie and no doubt will get a huge welcome back when he shows up tonight. As always, the Alumni will be recognized before the game and will likely be available at intermissions to meet with fans and sign autographs so be sure to come out to the game!
Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 tonight at BMC!
