Game Recap: Colts drop home opener to Sting. (Video highlights) #OHL

Last night the Barrie Colts lost their first game of the season in their home opener against the Sarnia Sting. Barrie came out really strong in the first period but really just seemed to float through the rest of the game.

Our friend Darius from DRL - Productions cut this video highlight package from the game. For more of their great videos be sure to check out their YouTube page HERE. If you missed the game the highlights even include the player introduction.

Before puck drop the Colts showed the new 2015 Central Division Championship banner.

First Period: The only goal of the game was scored almost half way through the first period. The lone goal would go to Sasha Chmelevski. The puck was redirected by a stick so Blackwood had no chance of seeing it. It appeared from the stands that the puck went off of Roy Radke's stick. Sting take the 1-0 lead.

Colts out shot the Sting in the first frame 10-9.

Second Period: Second period was just messy play. The Colts had 3 short handed chances in the period but only managed to get 7 shots on goal in the period. Colts were really trying to make the long pass through the neutral zone but each and every time Sarnia was either able to redirect the puck or intercept it.

Blackwood made 16 saves in the period.

Third Period: The Colts had a stronger showing in the third but still were dominated for the most part.  Blackwood made many key saves to keep the Colts in the game but unfortunately the Colts just were not able to score.  Again the Colts were out shot in the period. 15-9.

Notes:
  • Sarnia out shot Barrie 40-26.
  • Blackwood made 39 saves.

  • Colts went 0 for 5 on the power play.
