Game Preview: Mississauga Steelheads vs Barrie Colts. #OHL

Tonight the Mississauga Steelheads are in Barrie to face the Colts for the first of six meetings this year. Last year, Barrie won the season series 5-1 and also eliminated Mississauga in the quarter finals of the playoffs in 7 games.

The trout come into Barrie with a 4-5-0-0 coming off of a 3-2 overtime win over the Saginaw Spirit. In a tightly contested game it would be Nathan Bastian who would score his 4th goal of the season, 25 seconds into OT to pull off the win. The win was a god start to getting back on track following a loss in Flint. Mississauga no doubt will look to extend their winning streak while jumping the Colts in the standings.

Barrie is coming off of a big 5-3 win over the Flint Firebirds. Flint took an early 2 goal lead but it would be Barrie coming out hard in the 2nd period to claw their way back into it to get the win. Barrie went 2 for 10 on the man advantage while killing off all 4 penalties.  Christian Propp was a huge part of the win stopping 36 of 39 shots against. Anthony Stefano scored a pair of goals while getting 7 shots on goal. Adrian Carbonara also had a strong game for the Colts scoring a goal and adding an assist.

Keys to Success: Keep generating shots on goal. I'm pretty sure here is an old saying about this by a former NHL great who once played with the Greyhounds but I can't put my finger on the name.. Barrie also will want to take advantage of special teams. They have been excellent on the penalty kill all season and will need to keep scoring with the man advantage.

Players to Watch: Stefano leads the team in points and is always a player the opposing team needs to keep an eye on. Also, a lot of possession for the Colts starts in the face off circle and captain Cordell James has been incredible in the face off circle. He was 23 for 31 against Flint and that is a huge advantage for any team to have.

Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 tonight at BMC.
