TRADE: Colts send Kyle Heitzner to Mississauga. #OHL

The Barrie Colts have traded centre, Kyle Heitzner to the Mississauga Steelheads in exchange for a 6th round pick at the 2021 OHL Priority Selection Draft.

Kyle hadn't made an appearance in the first two regular season games for Barrie this season as he was listed as a healthy scratch. Here is a quote from head coach Dale Hawerchuk regarding the decision. (per Barrie Today)

He’s in a situation where other players beat him out for a spot in the lineup. It’s a hard part of the game, but it’s the reality of it. - HC Dale Hawerchuk.

Kyle was drafted by the Colts 218th overall at the 2015 OHL Priority Selection Draft. He has played in 110 games with Barrie over the last two seasons where he would score 10 goals and add 10 assists. His only playoff appearance with the team was last year, where he got an assist in 11 games.

Heitzner will bring some experience to the Trout. No doubt that he will be looking to show Mississauga that he can contribute to the team, especially after getting scratched early in the season by Barrie. Kyle looked decent at camp, just ran into a situation where other players stood out more to the Colts coaching staff.

We would like to wish Kyle the best of luck in Mississauga!
