It was announced today that former Barrie Colts forward Ben Hawerchuk is headed to the Czech Republic. The gritty forward has signed a tryout contract with Motor Ceske Budejovic of the Czech League.

Hawerchuk joined the Colts in the 2014-15 season after being drafted by the team 109th overall at the 2014 OHL Priority Selection Draft. He played five seasons in Barrie where he would score 67 goals and 69 assists through 290 games played.

2018-19 was his last season in Barrie where he completed his OHL career as an over-ager. Ben set his career high scoring 27 goals and 23 assists that year.

We would like to wish Ben the best of luck at his tryout and as he looks to continue his career in hockey.
