The Barrie Colts have fired interim head coach Warren Rychel. Rychel was brought in before the start of the season to fill in for Dale Hawerchuk when he stepped away for cancer treatment.

Rychel joined the Colts at the beginning of September to fill in and has coached the Ponies to a 16-21-2-2. The team currently sits in eighth place in the Eastern Conference and has lost the last six games straight.

The team will have assistant coach Todd Miller step in on an interim basis to take on the coaching duties. Miller was hired as the assistant coach ten years ago. He has worked side-by-side with Hawerchuk and knows his system. This will help transition when Dale returns to the arena which Gene Pereira says could be soon.

While the team is very young since moving several key players at the OHL trade deadline, Miller looks to make this a team fans look forward to coming out to see.
