The Barrie Colts have picked up goalie Mack Guzda from the Owen Sound Attack.

In exchange for the fourth-year goaltender, the Barrie Colts send a pair of draft picks. A 5th rounder (2022) and 3rd rounder (2023).

It is no surprise that the Colts have struggled in goal since the start of the 2021-22 OHL Season. After Jet Greaves signed in the AHL, the Colts had to work with what they had in netminders Matteo Lalama and Matthew Sbrocca.

While the team has managed to get some wins with its struggles in goal, it has been clear the team needed to find a solidified starter to take over the position. Lalama has a 0.868 SAV% and 3.69 GAA, while is 0.816 and 4.16 GAA. Guzda has played ten games so far, putting up a 0.915 SAV% and 3.20 GAA. He has a 5-4-0-1 record before coming to Barrie.

Except Barrie to keep Lalama as a backup with Guzda taking over the starting position. Barrie is in a great spot now with a clear starter that can help get some wins, while Lalama can work on developing without concern of taking on too much responsibility as a rookie.
