Barrie Colts sign Import Pick Alexey Lipanov to OHL contract. #OHL

Today the Barrie Colts announced that they have signed Russian forward Alexey Lipanov.

The 18 year old centre was selected by the Barrie Colts in the 1st round (44th overall) at the 2016 CHL Import Draft. He spent the 2016-17 season playing in the MHL and the VHL where he would put up 3 goals and 5 assists in 21 games played.

Lipanov is a prospect in this weekends NHL Draft in Chicago where many have him projected to go within the first couple of rounds. Bob McKenzie of TSN has him projected to go 49th overall. Here is a look at some other projections per eliteprospects.com

He has also represented Russia where he has won a Silver medal at the U17 WHC in 2015-16 and a Bronze medal with the U18 team this past year at the WJC.
