9 days until the start of the Barrie Colts 2017-18 regular season!

Image result for blaine down barrie coltsBlaine Down wore 9 with the Barrie Colts. Blaine was drafted 91st overall at the 1999 OHL Priority Selection Draft and would play 3 seasons with the Colts from 1999 to 2002. He was a part of the J. Ross Robertson Cup Championship team in 2000 when the Colts won the OHL Championship.
The Durham Region native played in 168 regular season games with the Colts where he would score 77 goals and total 173 points. In that time, he also totaled 221 PIM.

Obviously winning the J. Ross Robertson Cup he managed to get in some playoff games with Barrie. In 47 playoff games he would get 16 assists and  total 43 points.

Since then, Blaine has played in the AHL, a year in Italy, multiple years in the Swiss league and for 4 years he played in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga for the Straubing Tigers before joining the Iserlohn Roosters last season. The team has since signed him to an extension this year and he has been named an alternate captain.



The Barrie Colts home opener is Thursday, September 21st when the host the Ottawa 67's.
