Game Preview: Barrie Colts host Owen Sound Attack at BMC. #OHL

Tonight the Barrie Colts look to get back in the win column as they prepare to host the Owen Sound Attack tonight at the Barrie Molson Centre. This is the first meeting of 6 between these two teams this season. Last season the teams split the 6 game series 3 to 3.

The Attack are coming off of a 7-5 loss to the Ottawa 67's this past Sunday in Owen Sound. Despite out shooting Ottawa 37 to 29 they were unable to pull out the win. Much like the Colts, missed opportunities with the man advantage ultimately cost the Attack the game. They went 0 for 5 with the man advantage. Owen Sound currently sits in 4th place in the Midwest division with 9 points. Sadly for them, unlike the Central division 9 points wont land you a first place spot in the division.
Sometimes, life isn't fair
The Colts lost their last game as well to that same Ottawa team in a 4-0 "effort". Like Owen Sound Barrie went 0 for 5 on the power play. Only real difference is we couldn't score. This was a rare game where the Colts actually out shot a team. I mean, that is a win, right?
Its not..
Both teams have faced similar struggles this season and in many ways look the same. Both teams have outscored opposing teams by a goal, neither have been outstanding with special teams and both are close point wise. Barrie has the edge with goaltending while Owen Sound is averaging 9 more shots a game than Barrie.

Keys to Success: Barrie needs to limit shots on goal big time. May be tough against a team that is almost averaging 40 shots a game. Colts are really going to need to stay out of the box as much as possible and make some adjustments on the power play. Also, players like Brendan Lemieux are really in need of stepping up. He needs to find a way to put the puck in the net or at the very least help draw some calls to give Barrie chances with the man advantage. With some games under his belt since coming off his suspension I think starting tonight we will see a Lemieux we are more used to seeing.

Players to Watch: As mentioned we are expecting a big night for Brendan Lemieux. If he can get going it will reflect through the roster and guys like Mangiapane, Scott and the rest will have stronger games. Also look for Kevin Labanc to have a strong night. He has only been left off the score sheet in two games this season.

Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 at BMC.
